Do you struggle with stubborn fat around your waist otherwise known as love handles?
Whoever started calling them that certainly has a strange sense of humor!
What causes love handles?
There are various factors that can lead to the formation of love handles. Things like getting older, not getting enough sleep, hormones, and a diet high in fat, sugar, and calorie-dense food all contribute to the struggle.
Though love handles pack stubborn fat, it is possible to get rid of it. Keep reading for easy tips for getting rid of those unsightly handles.
1. Russian Twists
One of the most effective love-handle workouts includes Russian twists. If you want to melt the fat sitting around your waist, add these to your exercise routine.
Sit on the floor with your legs stretched in front of you and your arms joined ahead of you. Lift your legs off the ground, bend your knees slightly, and twist your torso from side to side. Do not let your feet touch the ground.
2. Triangle Pose
To perform the triangle pose, stand with your legs shoulder-width apart. Stretch your arms out to the side. Take a deep breath in and slowly bend your body sideways touching your left toe with your left hand. Your right hand will be in the air stretching upwards.
Your left arm and right arm should form a straight line. Your neck should be toward your left side. Go back to starting position and repeat on the other side.
3. Bicycle Crunches
This is a quick, effective exercise to try. Lie flat on the floor on your back. Pull your legs in and fold your knees. Place your hands under your head. Lift the right leg and bring your left elbow toward your right knee while lifting your upper body. Lie back down and repeat with the other leg.
4. Lifestyle Changes
If you weren’t already moving for at least 20 minutes a day, it’s important to do that. The above exercises are a good start. Making better dietary choices and portion control will complement your fat-burning activities.
Add dark leafy greens, whole grains, and berries to your diet. Get protein from eggs, fish, and white poultry. Feel fuller longer when eating beans and legumes. You’ll lower your calorie intake as well. Try to lower your sodium intake to prevent fluid retention.
5. Medical Procedures
Plastic surgery procedures like liposuction can help. Liposuction targets specific areas, in this case, love handles but needs to be accompanied by lifestyle changes. Otherwise, the fat cells will likely return.
Are you looking for a non-surgical way to assist your diet and exercise effort in removing stubborn fat? Coolsculpting might be the answer. Learn more about it here.
