When summer comes, it is all about chilling at the beach during the day and partying during the night. Not to mention that, since the best nights are the ones when a casual afternoon at the beach turns into a crazy night out with just a few drinks, not knowing where the day will take you is also one of the main signs that summer has arrived. And if you don’t want to be a party pooper who needs to go home to doll herself up, you need to learn some of these day-to-night makeup tricks. This way, you will never be caught unprepared again.

First things first: clean and freshen up your face

If you want your makeup to look flawless, you need to apply it on a clean canvas. This is why, before applying anything on your face, you first need to take your blotting papers and erase all that sweat, grease and sand that has accumulated during the long day at the beach. Also, pay special attention to your T-zone, since that is where all the extra shine builds up. If your eye makeup gets smeared, wipe it off before reapplying it and add some concealer if needed.

Some other important things to keep in mind are moisturizers and UV defense. When it comes to UV defense, make sure you have a quality sun protectant with at least 30 SPF, like the one from Skinceuticals for example. And having a good moisturizer is important because it helps the pores on your skin fight against blackheads, grease and dryness.

Eye makeup

The proper way to enhance your eyes is to go over your daytime shadow with a darker shade of it. Add it to the upper creases of your eyes and around the outside corners as well as under the bottom lashes. After the eye shadow, finish it off with some eyeliner. When it comes to mascara, you probably already have your waterproof mascara on, so there is no need to reapply it because that would only result in clumps – which are super unattractive.

Skin

It doesn’t matter if you might need to use blush during the daytime, but during the night – stay away from it. The reason is simple – you have already spent an entire day under the sun, which has surely caused your blood to give you that nice, rosy and soft complexion.

When it comes to glitter, it is the opposite. Stay away from highlighter and shimmer during the day, and use the night for sparkling. Highlight your forehead, neck, chin and cheekbones, and if you plan on wearing a strappy dress or blouse, apply some glitter on your collarbones and cleavage as well.

Lips

When speaking of lip makeup, it is similar to eye makeup: apply a lip color that is a few shades darker than your natural lips. And even though you should stay away from lip gloss during the daytime because it melts away and gets all messy, during the night gloss is (like we said above) desirable. Top your lipstick or your lip stain with super shiny lip gloss to achieve that ultimate “beach girl gone out” look.

However, you have to make sure your lips match your eyes. In other words, if you went a little heavier on the eyes, your lips mustn’t be overdone, and the other way around. If you love strong dark or super bright lip colors, you might want to go a bit easier on your eyes. If you highlight both your lips and your eyes, you will likely look like a circus clown, and you don’t really want that.

Hair

After you’ve dolled yourself up, you need to take care of your hair as well. After all, great hair can sometimes boost the face beauty for as much as 70 percent. Make sure you bring your dry shampoo that will absorb all the grease, sweat and oil that has accumulated during the entire day at the beach. After applying it, mess up your hair a bit to achieve that cool classic summer hairstyle.
