For the past few years, we have seen subtle signs of the fashion world edging closer and closer to the dance industry. This has always been an “anything goes” field. Frankly, both of these groups love quality clothing. The dance industry relies on their clothes as tools of the trade. Yes, they must be beautiful because that is what pays the bills, but they do not buy poor quality because even when the show is over they need those leotards, tights, leg warmers, jackets, and warm-ups to maintain their strength, beauty, and shape. While you will not see them rushing to a department store for a 2 for $5 sale on tights, you will see them reaching for their cell when Just For Kix has a sale going. Both groups love clothes. Both groups appreciate beauty. Both groups respect quality over quantity. This year, both groups are on the same fashion trend.

Check out their clothing lines

You don’t have to take our word for it. Check your favorite designers website for the rest of 2019 and for 2020. You will see baby-doll clothes. Whispering halters, rompers, onesies, little tulle skirts, entire outfits designed around a ballerina skirt. Flowing high low skirts that you can see through that flitter over the leotard bottom of the woman who wears it. Most shoulders are bare.  Hair is worn up in a messy bun and ballerina slippers are everywhere.

If you have a special event this year, don’t skip your favorites. These designers have ballet inspired wedding gowns, bridesmaids gowns, and prom dresses. Not to worry about the short and wispy skirts, they are paired perfectly with leotards.

We did not look at all the designers. We did look at Ralph Lauren, H & M, and Christian Dior, and J. C. Penneys. We felt that was a wide enough range to see it was spread around pretty well.

There are several adorable outfits available and of course, we can wear what we want. But for the most part, I think the dancers are happy and the fashion (trend setters) is happy, so what is the harm? If you want to slip into a pair of jeans, go for it. If you want to wear those jeans and blend in a bit, wear it with a crop top halter, a pair of flat ballerina slippers, and pull your hair up in a messy bun. You will look awesome.

Winter Hip Hop

While no one is letting it out of the bag just yet, there are a lot of whispers about the winter fashions. Those whispers have a lot to do with celebrities ordering some new high-top sneakers. We do know there have been more than a few of the M. C.Hammer pants ordered in time for holiday gift giving.

Trends will come and trends will go. This one never seems to go very far. Right now it has stepped forward, so enjoy it while you can. While everybody is all dressed up, let’s dance!
