Hola beauties! I personally do not like mauve shades on my lips, somehow they are not made for me. But, I have fallen for the whole Lakme 9 to 5 Lip Color range! So, while buying a few from this range, I picked up Lakme 9 to 5 Lip Color Tea Break. Let see how this lipstick actually is. Price & Quantity: Rs. 400 for 3.6ml.
Shelf Life: 24 months.
Shade: Tea Break (MB5).
My Experience with Lakme 9 to 5 Lip Color Tea Break:
I have a very tiny collection of nude or mauve or non-shocking-color lipstick in my vanity. So, I am still not wise enough to choose proper shades according to my skin tone, especially when I have pigmentation around my lips. This particular lipstick is an example of that only.
Shade: This lipstick is in light mauve shade with little bit of neutral hint in it. When swatching, it looks like a little bit more on the neutral side and less mauve. So, the shade is somewhere between mauve and neutral or mixed of both. Fair or lighter or even pinkish skin would be perfect for this shade. I wonder why Lakme named this shade as tea break? And after wasting my valuable 10 minutes of leisure time, I found nothing! Creating 40 different shades for a range and then naming it is itself a big task; so, I excused my concern with the name anyway! Texture: The texture of the lipstick is semi-matte finish with satin touch. The lipstick spreads on the lips very nicely and evenly without any effort. Although, after long hours, it does settles into fine lines (I have loads of fine lines!).
Pigmentation: Well, I guess the basic popularity which this Lakme 9 to 5 range gets is because of its long-lasting promise and also the superb pigmentation. One swipe of this lipstick is enough and gives the proper shade bang on. It covers my black pigmented lips very nicely without any trace.
Staying Power: As I already said, Lakme 9 to 5 is quite exemplary when it comes to staying power. I mean, for my lips (fine lined throughout!) it does not stay 8 hours, but definitely 5 hours maximum. After 5 hours, this particular shade starts settling into fine lines, and touch up makes it worse. So, I need to wipe it off with a tissue and reapply.
My Take: I would have loved this lipstick shade if it would suit me! First of all, there is not complaint regarding pigmentation, staying power or anything else. The only glitch would be the settling into fine lines and also since I have dry lips, my lips get chapped soon. Overall, this is a lovely neutral mauve shade that would suit mostly fair or wheatish skin tone (in my opinion).
Pros of Lakme 9 to 5 Lip Color Tea Break:
- Lovely neutral mauve shade.
- Semi-matte, satin finish.
- Well pigmented.
- Excellent staying power.
- Chic packaging.
- Available easily.
- Affordable price tag.
Cons of Lakme 9 to 5 Lip Color Tea Break:
- Might not be suitable for all skin tone.
- Settles into fine lines.
- Does not provide any moisture.
BFF Rating: 4/5.
Final Thoughts on Lakme 9 to 5 Lip Color Tea Break:
Lakme 9 to 5 Lip Color Tea Break is a beautiful neutral mauve lipstick with lovely semi-matte satin finish that would survive at least 5 hours of your outing (including taking meal). The pigmentation and creamy texture glides on the lips very swiftly and effortlessly. In a nutshell, it you are fair to wheatish skin tone, this shade would suit you properly and there are tons of good points to have this lipstick in your vanity!
